Aim of the job:
To co-ordinate implementation of LCD Ethiopia’s programmes in Wolaita Zone with a specific focus on Gender and Adolescence
Key duties:
- Coordinate delivery of STAGES output 4 with 4 woredas and up to 139 schools, with a focus on: Output 4: Girls ‘Ready To Learn’, Access to academic, social-emotional, ‘basic needs’, life skills and hygiene inputs, Better opportunities for girls to catch-up on missed learning, Improved wellbeing, self-esteem, and self-confidence
- Responsibility for following activities: Cost-effective tutorial programme; Life skills, financial literacy & careers advice; Provision of uniform, textbooks, stationery & bursaries for vulnerable secondary girls; Sanitary packs, SRH advice; Social Emotional Learning: Guidance & Counselling ; Mentoring via alumni networks & Role Models; Gender Clubs and Girls’ Clubs; Training in SRGBV / reporting mechanisms Awards for high-performing girls
- Work closely with 4 woreda office heads and all cluster supervisors to ensure output 4 delivery as per workplan and report on implementation progress to Programme Manager
- Coordinate and oversee woreda and school level training and all capacity building aspects of output 4
- Coordinate and oversee resource production, distribution and usage
- Responsible for ensuring girls receive materials that the project offers at the appropriate time and that remaining materials are stored and carefully monitored
- Reporting to LCDE Programme Manager regarding all aspects of output 4 implementation
- Foster positive working relationships with Wolaita Zone Education Department, four woreda education offices, schools and communities (in consultation with Programme Manager).
- Participate in Project Management committee meetings
- Work very closely with LCDE F&A team to ensure effective and timely monthly payments of service deliveries at school level
- Perform other duties as assigned by line manager
Qualification and Experience Required:
- A minimum of BA degree in the field of education or social sciences
- Specialist technical gender and adolescence experience
- A minimum of 5 years professional experience coordinating and managing gender / education projects
- Working knowledge and understanding of project management methodology
- Strong planning, budgetary, supervising and project implementation skills
- Ability to travel regularly to project sites
- Proven ability to work effectively with schools and communities
- Proven record of achievement in coordinating the delivery of education and/or language and literacy projects and in developing of effective delivery models
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively with a diverse range of people
- Proven networking and collaborative skills
- Proven ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines
- Computer literacy
Desirable
- Prior experience working with communities, schools, teachers, administrators and government officials
- MA degree in the field of gender or education
- Detailed knowledge of MOE policy
