TITLE OF POSITION: USAID Development Program Assistant (Closes February 02, 2017) EVELOPMENT PROGRAM ASSISTANT
LOCATION OF WORK: US EMBASSY, ENTOTO ROAD
HOURS: FULL TIME 40 HOURS PER WEEK
FINAL FILING DATE: FEBRUARY 02, 2017
SALARY: FSN-8 (USD 11,886 to USD 21,390) depending on the candidate’s earning history, qualifications and experience.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION: The incumbent serves as Program Assistant for the USAID/African Union (AU) office and performs a full range of programmatic and administrative and basic financial management functions for the USAID/AU staff. The incumbent will also support protocol functions for US Mission to the African Union (USAU) as it relates to USAID/AU office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, the applicant must possess the following:
EDUCATION: At least two years of full-time post secondary study (or the equivalent hours spread across a part-time study period) at college or in international affairs, development studies, English language or related field in liberal arts is required.
EXPERIENCE: At least five years of experience in management or administration is required with an international organization, NGO or diplomatic mission. Experience in basic accounting, book-keeping or related financial field is desired.
LANGUAGE: Must have level IV in English. African Union working language besides English: French, Arabic, Portuguese preferred. English will be tested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The incumbent for this position should have sound knowledge of executive office management and filing systems and basic financial accounting principles. The incumbent should be able to maintain the high-level of confidentiality required by the position. Excellent communication both oral and written, interpersonal, top standards of customer service with high ranking officials both internal and external to the US Mission to the African Union (USAU). Incumbent will engage weekly with senior leadership at USAU. Strong computer skills are a must. The incumbent should be a self-starter with strong organizational skills.
